Eagle women ranked No. 14 in NJCAA poll

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 11, 2014) – Despite a loss at the College of Central Florida on December 3, Tallahassee Community College remains near the upper half of this week’s NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball, checking in at No. 14.

The Eagles slipped from No. 11, trading spots with Panhandle Conference rival Gulf Coast State College, who was ranked 14th in last week’s poll.

Tallahassee suffered a 65-55 loss at Central Florida last Wednesday, snapping a four-game winning streak.

The NJCAA rankings continue to be dominated by Region 8, with five teams in the top 14. Leading the way is Chipola College, ranked No. 1 for the second straight week. Northwest Florida State College is No. 5, followed by No. 9 Florida State College at Jacksonville, Gulf Coast State and Tallahassee.

Those same five teams, in the same order, hold down the top five spots in this week’s FCSAA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll.

Tallahassee is one of five schools to have both its men’s and women’s basketball teams ranked in the NJCAA’s top 15. The Eagle men are currently ranked 11th.
