Meet Tallahassee Community College’s 2015 women’s basketball signing class

2015-16 Roster

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 23, 2015) - Tallahassee Community College head women’s basketball coach Franqua “Q” Bedell is pleased to introduce the Eagles’ 2015 signing class.

Bedell, now in his third season at the helm of the Eagles’ program, signed 11 players who will join returnees Aryn Tarver (Forward/6’3”/Charlotte, N.C.), Eboni Watts (Guard/5’6”/Macon, Ga.) and Lawriell Wilson (Guard/5’7”/Kenner, La.). Tarver is expected to redshirt the 2015-16 and Wilson missed all of 2014-15 rehabbing a knee injury suffered in her final high school game, thus making Watts the only player on Tallahassee’s roster with game experience.

The class features six guards, three forwards and two centers, and the players are from four different states (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Maryland) as well as the countries of Canada, France, Nigeria and Portugal.

Here’s a closer look at the Eagles’ 2015 signing class:

Sabrina Banks – Forward, 6’0” (New Orleans, La./Warren Easton Charter HS)

One of the top players out of Henry County, south of Atlanta. Keyed a resurgence at Stockbridge High School, where he averaged 20.1 points as a junior.

TCC coaching staff on Banks: “She is coming off a historic year in New Orleans. Sabrina was a major part of winning the first ever state championship for a public school in New Orleans. She has a BCS level body and shooting ability that can change games. When she learns the speed of the (college) game, she will be one of the top players in the country.”

Monique Calliste – Guard, 5’6” (Scarborough, ONT, Canada/Blessed Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School)

Has impressed the coaching staff since joining team workouts in the summer. Will see plenty of time in the Eagles’ backcourt.

TCC coaching staff on Calliste: “’Mo’ is a playmaker and will be a really good player for us once she is fully comfortable in our system.”

Theresa Chris – Forward, 6’0” (Abuja, Nigeria/Universal Secondary Commercial School)

Skill set still being developed but has a high ceiling. Working tirelessly to develop into a reliable post presence.

TCC coaching staff on Chris: “She is one of the hardest working players on the team and learns something new every day. Once things start to fully clock, she’s going to be fun to watch.”

Emani Clough – Guard, 5’8” (Mississauga, ONT, Canada/Father Michael Goetz HS)

Will sit out the 2015-16 as a result of upcoming surgery to repair a torn ACL. A dynamic player who can score for all points on the floor.

TCC coaching staff on Clough: “She’s the most athletic player on the team. Can play the 1, 2 or 3 and has the ability to score at the rim and in transition.”

Emilia Ferreira – Center, 5’11” (Barreiro, Portugal/Escola Secundaria de Casquilhos)

Post player who has seen gradual improvement in her game. Expected to report to campus for the spring term and will make her debut next season.

TCC coaching staff on Ferreira: “She is a strong post player who works both the block and high post very well. She is going to be an impact player in the post.”

Jakeriah Henderson – Center, 6’1” (Birmingham, Ala./Center Point HS)

Coming off a nice prep career at Center Point High School. Will figure into the rotation among post players in 2015-16.

TCC coaching staff on Henderson: “She is a strong post player who is still learning the game. She works hard and has the potential to be a great rebounder.”

Lindsay John – Guard, 5’8” (Cholet, France/Lycee Victor Hugo)

Will be counted on to provide leadership for her large freshman class. Already on the radar for some high majors. Solid ball handler and can score as well.

TCC coaching staff on John: “Lindsay is a high basketball IQ player who can score on her own as well as create scoring opportunities for her teammates. I’m looking for her to be a leader on the floor when she gets settled in.”

Destinee McQueen – Guard, 5’10” (Landover, Md./Duval HS)

Honorable mention pick on the All-Sentinel team as a senior. Prior to the season, she was named honorable mention on the All-Met Watch List.

TCC coaching staff on McQueen: “Destinee is a player who has the ability to play inside and out. She can score and get to the basket with her size. She has to learn the speed of the (college) game and how to bring it every day.”

Janessa Murphy – Guard, 5’7” (McDonough, Ga./Dutchtown HS)

A Female Athlete of the Week honoree as a high school junior. Named the Henry County Player of the Year in 2015 after averaging 11.2 points and 4.0 rebounds.

TCC coaching staff on Murphy: “Janessa is going to be a guard who has the chance to do something special. She has the ability to make plays on and off the ball.”

Kholby Oliver – Guard, 5’6” (Bowie, Md./Bishop McNamara HS)

Sharp-shooter who enjoyed a stellar prep career. Named honorable mention by the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference as a senior.

TCC coaching staff on Oliver: “Kholby is a very talented player who will come in and provide instant offense because of her shooting ability. She still has a ways to go learning the speed and pace of the (college) game but has a bright future.”

Destoni Willock – Forward, 6’0” (Toronto, ONT, Canada/St. John Paul II Catholic Secondary School)

A 3-star recruit according to ESPN. Long and athletic and continue to develop her interior game. Has quick feet. Named to HooptownGTA’s Fab 45 list in 2013.

TCC coaching staff on Willock: “Destoni is a long and athletic combo player (3-4). She can run the floor well and is a strong scorer around the rim.”
