#TCCBasketball: Eagle women roll past Indian River State

FT. PIERCE, Fla. (November 7, 2016) – Four players scored in double-figures as Region 8 No. 3 Tallahassee Community College cruised to a 98-56 win at Indian River State College (0-3) on Monday evening. 

Tallahassee is now 2-0 heading into Tuesday's 5:30 p.m. game at Miami Dade College. 

Freshman guard Jas Hill led the quartet of Eagles in double-figures with 24 points, buoyed by a 13-for-14 effort at the free throw line. Hill also dished out five assists and was credited with seven of the team's 24 steals. 

Fellow freshman Japonica James came off the bench to score 20 points in just 21 minutes of action. Her efforts keyed Tallahassee's 38-12 advantage in scoring from the reserves. 

Sophomores Lawriell Wilson and Janessa Murphy scored 13 points each. Wilson also had nine assists. 

Tallahassee led wire to wire, jumping out to a 6-0 lead through the first three minutes. The Pioneers pulled to within a bucket on two different occasions but a 12-4 run gave the Eagles their first double-digit lead of the game (20-10) inside the final minute of the first quarter. 

Tallahassee led 22-11 after the game's first ten minutes and outscored Indian River State 21-13 in the second quarter to carry a 43-24 lead to the intermission. 

After allowing the first four points of the second half, Tallahassee went on a 12-0 run that all but put the game away as the Eagles increased their lead to 66-37 after three quarters. 

Tallahassee outscored the hosts 32-19 in the fourth. 

The Eagles shot 54.1 percent (33-of-61) from the floor and 84.8 percent (28-of-33) from the free throw line en route to their highest scoring output against an NJCAA opponent under head coach Franqua "Q" Bedell. 

NOTES: Tallahassee is now 11-1 all-time vs. Indian River State and 3-1 in games played in Ft. Pierce…the Eagles are 16-2 all-time vs. Tuesday's opponent, Miami Dade (4-1 at Miami Dade)…Bedell now has 49 wins as the Eagles' head coach.
