#TCCBasketball: Eagles beat No. 22 GHC on day two of Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 18, 2016) - Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team picked up its second win over a nationally-ranked opponent on Friday, defeating NJCAA No. 22 Georgia Highlands College, 85-68, on day two action at the Capital Courtyard Classic.

Tallahassee is now 5-1 heading into's Saturday's Classic finale against IMG Academy. Georgia Highlands is now 3-3.

On November 1, Tallahassee knocked off No. 24 Daytona State College, 84-62 in the season opener. On Friday, the Eagles took advantage of another opportunity to garner a win that could pay dividends later in the season.

The Eagles scored the first five points of the game and never trailed. Leading 15-11, Jas Hill's three-pointer started a 10-4 run - it ended with Japonica James' three-point play and a 25-15 lead after one quarter.

The second quarter belonged to sophomore guard Lawriell Wilson, who scored 14 of her career-high 30 points in the period. Her back-to-back three-pointers gave Tallahassee a 33-22 lead at the 6:59 mark and when she finished the first half scoring on a jumper with four seconds remaining, the Eagles led 50-35.

Wilson hit 12-of-19 field goal attempts, 3-of-7 from long distance, and added five rebounds and five assists.

The Eagles put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Chargers, 25-12. En route, Tallahassee extended its lead to as many as 29 (75-46), its largest of the game.

Georgia Highlands outscored Tallahassee in the fourth quarter, 21-10, and held the Eagles without a field goal for the final 3:41, but the outcome was already decided.

James finished with 15 points for Tallahassee while Aryn Tarver came off the bench to record a double-double - 12 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with five blocked shots.

Pam Diokpara had a double-double of her own - 22 points and 11 rebounds - to pace Georgia Highlands.
