Wilson named NJCAA Player of the Week for second time

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 8, 2017) – For the second time this season, Tallahassee Community College's Lawriell Wilson has been named NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The NJCAA released its player of the week selections earlier today for games played January 30-February 5.

As was the case when she won the award last month, the highlight of Wilson's resume was leading the Eagles to a win over a top four nationally ranked opponent.

In an 83-73 win over No. 4 Chipola College on January 31, Wilson scored 31 points and had nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Four days later, playing at No. 20 Northwest Florida State, she tallied 29 points, five rebounds and five assists while engineering an 80-72 victory.

For the week, Wilson averaged 30.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 50.0 percent (19-of-38) from the floor, 83.3 percent (5-of-6) on three-pointers and 77.3 percent (17-of-22) from the free throw line.

Wilson was named NJCAA Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The Eagles, currently ranked No. 2 in Region 8 and No. 9 by the NJCAA, return to action on Saturday at Pensacola State College.
