#TCCBasketball: Eagles win to improve to 13-0

SWAINSBORO, Ga. (December 19, 2017) – NJCAA No. 4/Region 8 No. 2 Tallahassee Community College set a school record with its 13th straight victory on Tuesday evening, knocking off East Georgia State College, 79-58, in women's basketball action.

Tallahassee eclipsed a pair of 12-game winning streaks over its 24-year history, including one during last season's run to the NJCAA Tournament, and extended the best start in school history by improving to 13-0.

By this team's standards, Tuesday's win might not go down as the prettiest but it did prove the Eagles can fight through adversity.

After four straight wins of at least 51 points, Tallahassee found itself in a dogfight against the host Bobcats.

East Georgia State knocked down three three-pointers in the first quarter and led 24-22 after the first ten minutes.

Tallahassee took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring East Georgia State 18-5 – the 16th time the Eagles have allowed single-digit points in a quarter this season – and led 40-29 at the intermission.

Jas Hill, named Region 8 Player of the Week earlier on Tuesday, came to life in the second half, scoring 18 of her game-high 28 points, to keep the Bobcats at bay.

Tallahassee led 58-44 after three quarters, and Hill scored 10 in the fourth to help the Eagles ice the game.

Japonica James was the only other player in double-figures with 13 points, although five other players scored at least six points.

Tallahassee will break for the holiday then return to action Thursday and Friday, December 28 and 29 when it hosts the Tallahassee Democrat Holiday Classic.
