#TCCBasketball: Jas Hill receives NJCAA honor

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 20, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's Jas Hill has been named NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The NJCAA released its player of the week awards earlier on Wednesday for games played December 11-17. Hill was named Region 8 Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Hill, a sophomore guard from Mobile, Ala., averaged 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two games during the voting period, leading the undefeated Eagles to wins over ASA College Miami and Palm Beach State College.

Against ASA Miami, Hill scored 25 points in just 23 minutes of action as the Eagles cruised to the 101-21 victory. On Sunday against Palm Beach State, she tied a single-game school record, which she already shared, with eight three-pointers en route to a 34-point effort in Tallahassee's 109-43 victory and narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing with nine rebounds and a career-high nine assists.

In the Palm Beach State win, Hill also surpassed Nikki Cooks to become the school's all-time leader in three-pointers with 134 and moved past Cooks and Zenovia White into fourth place on the Eagles' all-time scoring list.

For the week, Hill shot 48.8 percent (20-of-41) from the floor, 46.2 percent (12-of-26) on three-pointers and hit all seven of her free throw attempts.

Hill is currently the nation's second-leading scorer, averaging 24.4 points per game.

Behind Hill's 28 points, Tallahassee defeated East Georgia State College, 79-58, on Tuesday evening - extending the Eagles' best start to a season (13-0) and setting a new school record with their 13th straight win.

Tallahassee is currently ranked No. 4 by the NJCAA and No. 2 in Region 8. The Eagles will return to action on Thursday, December 28 when it hosts the Tallahassee Democrat Holiday Classic.
