#TCCBasketball: Eagles soar past Blue Wave for 4-0 start

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (November 13, 2018) – Jamyra McChristine scored 15 points to lead four players in double-figures and NJCAA No. 5/Region 8 No. 3 Tallahassee Community College remained undefeated with an 86-47 win at Florida State College-Jacksonville on Tuesday evening. 

De'Asia Reid scored 14 points, Daisha Bradford had 12 and Tamia Riles, 10 for the Eagles, who are now 4-0 on the young season. 

Three other players were within a basket of reaching double-digits – Aliyah Lawson and Tameria Johnson, who had nine points each, and Juliunn Redmond, who tossed in eight. 

Tallahassee started slowly before ending the first quarter with a 22-12 lead and managed only 15 points in the second quarter another single-digit effort defensively gave the Eagles a comfortable margin at the intermission. 

Tallahassee outscored FSCJ, 15-4, in the second quarter and led 37-16 at the break. 

Tuesday marked the first time in four games that Tallahassee failed to hit the century mark, but it did manage to post 49 second-half points en route to a fourth straight lopsided victory. 

The Eagles' three-game road trip will continue on Thursday with a trip to Phenix City, Ala., for a 5:30 p.m. tip against Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College. 

Eagles take sole possession of No. 3 in Region 8 rankings 

Region 8's first regular season coaches' polls were released on Tuesday and Tallahassee emerged with sole possession of the No. 3 ranking in the women's top ten. 

Northwest Florida State College and Gulf Coast State College, ranked 1-2 in the preseason poll, flipped positions in the new top ten, and Tallahassee closed the gap on both. The Eagles received 135 points in the voting, just 10 points back of the No. 1 Commodores and seven points behind the Raiders. 

Tallahassee is now comfortably in front of No. 4 Chipola College, who received 104 points. Pensacola State College is No. 5, giving the Panhandle Conference a clean sweep of the top five spots. 

In the men's poll, Tallahassee remained No. 5 as the top seven spots in the poll went unchanged.
