#TCCBasketball: Eagle women stay perfect vs. Santa Fe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 20, 2018) – NJCAA No. 5/Region 8 No. 2 Tallahassee Community College led Region 8 No. 10 Santa Fe College 35-13 after the first quarter and cruised to an 87-51 win on Tuesday evening at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.

Tallahassee is 7-0 and has won 12 straight games dating back to last season, when it closed with five straight wins to capture the national championship.

The Eagles delivered a championship caliber performance in the first quarter on Tuesday, despite spotting the Saints a pair of early baskets and a 4-0 lead.

Tallahassee scored the next 13 points to grab a nine-point lead and led by as many as 23 in the quarter. A 30-6 run, capped by Juliunn Redmond's basket put the Eagles in front, 33-10, at the 2:17 mark and Tallahassee led 35-12 through one.

Both teams struggled mightily in the second quarter, combining for just 17 points. Santa Fe outscored Tallahassee, 9-8, but still trailed, 43-22, at the intermission.

The third quarter was low-scoring as well, with the Eagles putting up only 14 points, but they exploded for 30 in the fourth and stretched the lead to as many as 38.

Daisha Bradford led four players in double-figures for Tallahassee with 22 points. Tamia Riles had 14.

Dai'Shona Washington-Polk came off the bench to score 12 and just missed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds. De'Asia Reid also had 10.

The Eagles also benefitted from a strong effort on the defensive end, where they limited Janasia Law, named Region 8 Player of the Week earlier in the day, to just four points on 2-of-8 shooting and seven turnover. She and teammate Stephanie Jackson, who average a combined 34.9 points per game, tallied just 11 on Tuesday.

Tallahassee will take the next week off before hosting Andrew (Ga.) College on November 28 at 5:30 p.m.
