#TCCBasketball opens Title IX Classic with blowout

Title IX Classic Bracket

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 27, 2018) – NJCAA No. 3/Region 8 No. 2 Tallahassee Community College opened play at the Title IX Classic on Thursday and picked up a 122-47 victory over Frederick (Md.) Community College.

With the win, the Eagles established a new school record for the best start in school history – they are now 16-0 on the season – and extended their record-breaking winning streak to 21 games overall, dating back to last season.

Tallahassee moves into the winner's bracket where it will face defending NJCAA Division III National Champion Hostos (N.Y.) Community College in Friday's 12:30 p.m. semifinal at the historic D.C. Armory.

Playing its first game since December 15, it took Tallahassee a few minutes to shake off the rust before leading 28-10 after one quarter.

The Eagles opened the second quarter with one of their patented runs, outscoring the Cougars 26-6 over the first five-plus minutes to open up a 54-16 lead. Tallahassee eventually led 72-23 at the half and 101-39 through three quarters.

Five players scored in double-figures for the Eagles, led by Juliunn Redmond with 31. She also had six rebounds and nine assists.

Daisha Bradford knocked down three three-pointers on her way to 23 points. Jamyra McChristine had 19 and 12 rebounds.

Victoria Pearce and Nesma Khalifa had 11 points each.

The 122 points equaled the second-highest scoring output in school history.
