#TCCBasketball: Eagle women fall short at Chipola

MARIANNA, Fla. (January 9, 2019) – In another battle of top ten nationally-ranked teams, No. 10 Chipola College knocked off No. 8 Tallahassee Community College, 86-82, on Wednesday evening.

Tallahassee (18-2), also ranked No. 3 in Region 8, is now 0-2 in Panhandle Conference play after opening the season with 18 straight victories.

Tallahassee had control early on, leading 17-10, but the host Indians closed the first quarter on an 11-4 run to force a 21-21 tie.

Chipola led by as many as seven in the second quarter and carried a 42-37 lead to the locker room.

A 12-2 run over the first two minutes of the third gave Tallahassee a 49-44 lead only to watch Chipola regain the momentum. A 19-7 spurt led to a 67-59 lead for the Indians through three quarters.

Down nine with 2:29 remaining, Tallahassee pulled within four but could get no closer.

Juliunn Redmond and Jamyra McChristine led the Eagles with 24 and 17 points, respectively.

Tallahassee will return to action next Wednesday when it hosts Northwest Florida State College at 5:30 p.m.
