#TCCBasketball: Eagle women fall short vs. No. 1 NWF

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 16, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team fell to 0-3 in Panhandle Conference play with a 70-63 loss to No. 1 Northwest Florida State College on Wednesday evening.

NJCAA No. 10/Region 8 No. 4 Tallahassee (18-3) has dropped its first three league games for the first time under head coach Franqua "Q" Bedell.

The Raiders outscored Tallahassee 39-29 in the second half to erase the Eagles' 34-31 halftime lead.

In the closing seconds of the third quarter, Shania Meertens knocked down a jumper from the elbow to a break a 51-all tie and send Northwest Florida State to the fourth quarter with a two-point lead. The Raiders led wire-to-wire in the fourth though by never more than seven points.

Trailing 66-61, Juliunn Redmond hit two free throws to bring Tallahassee within three with 36 seconds remaining. Following a pair of missed free throws, the Eagles had a chance to tie and again it was Redmond who got the call. Her three-pointer from the corner missed, however, and the Raiders iced the game at the free throw line.

Redmond finished with 11 points.

Daisha Bradford led the Eagles with 12 and Jada Perry had 10.

The first half saw Tallahassee in front most of the way. The Eagles led 16-12 after a quarter and led by as many as five points in the second before taking a three-point lead to the locker room.

Tallahassee will look to break into the Panhandle Conference win column at Pensacola State College on Saturday. Tip-off is 6:30 p.m. eastern.
