#TCCBasketball: Eagle women drop another close one

NICEVILLE, Fla. (February 6, 2019) – Needing a win to bolster its chances of returning to the postseason, Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team suffered another close defeat on Wednesday, falling to Northwest Florida State College, 61-56.

Tallahassee (21-5) is now 3-5 in Panhandle Conference play, three games back of co-leaders Northwest Florida State and Gulf Coast State College, with only four games to play. The Eagles are two games back of Chipola College for third place in the league standing, which could easily result in an at-large bid to the national tournament.

Tallahassee jumped out to a 5-1 lead three minutes into the game but the Raiders closed the quarter on an 18-7 run and led 19-12 after one.

The Eagles trailed 33-22 at the half and 46-34 after three.

Tallahassee made things interesting in the fourth. A 6-0 run to start the quarter got the Eagles within six, 46-40, only to watch the Raiders extend their lead back to 13 with 4:29 remaining.

Tallahassee had one more run left and pulled to within four then forced a five-second call with 55 seconds remaining. The Eagles were unable to get any closer however.

Juliunn Redmond led Tallahassee with 19 points. Daisha Bradford added 17.

Tallahassee will host Gulf Coast State College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
