Women's Basketball stumbles against #7 Gulf Coast State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 4, 2023) — TCC suffered their biggest loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to #7 Gulf Coast State 114-56. Injuries meant the Eagles were limited to just six players in the rotation; they were most notably missing leading scorer Sarai Estupinan (G, Soph.).

Gulf Coast State led 31-12 at the end of the first quarter and continued to grow their lead throughout the game. They shot 55.4% from the field and took 83 field goal attempts, compared to TCC's 59. That came from outrebounding the Eagles 52-24.

The Commodores had two players with at least 30 points. Ciante Downs shot 16-23 from the field and finished with 33, and Alieghya Bartholomew scored 30 by shooting 8-15 from beyond the arc.

Jaidyn Trevino (G, Soph.) scored 16 in the loss, knocking down five threes. Za'Naria Robinson (C, Fresh.) added 15 points. Trevino and Keiana Delaney (G, Soph.) played all 40 minutes, while Jayda Andrews (F, Fresh.) played 38. Delaney shot 4-10 from the field and finished with 13 points.

The Eagles travel to Marianna next Wednesday to take on the Chipola Indians. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM ET and will be streamed on Chipola's YouTube channel.
