The #Road2Lubbock Ends Here!
The Tallahassee Community College Eagles are the 2018 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Champions. Tallahassee defeated Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College, 69-51, to claim the program's first national championship.
The Eagles, the tournament's No. 11 seed, won five games in five days, defeating No. 22 Western Nebraska Community College, No. 6 Wabash Valley (Ill.) College, No. 14 Northwest Florida State College and No. 2 and two-time defending national champion Gulf Coast State College en route to the championship game.
The team will arrive back in Tallahassee on Monday evening, March 26. Fans are invited to come out and greet the team as they return to campus. A more specific time will be released mid-afternoon Monday, though it should be between 5-7 p.m.
Tournament format
The tournament is single-elimination. Once the field is down to four teams, the two semifinal winners will play for the national championship while the two semifinal losers will meet in the third place game.
