Track competes at Adonis Ferguson Classic

SMITHS STATION, Ala. (March 7, 2020) – Tallahassee Community College opened its second season of track at the Adonis Ferguson Classic hosted by Columbus State University on March 7.

The meet also turned out to be the final event of the season as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent cancellation of all spring sports by the NJCAA.

Both the men and women finished sixth in team scoring while the women's 14 points placed them ahead of Point University in team scoring.

Though the team was not at full strength, ten participants – eight male and two female – competed in 12 total events, including 2019 NJCAA qualifier Mia Wiederkehr, who made her season debut in the 800m.

Male runners Rodolph Adonis, Austin Erbaio and Daniel Randolph debuted after participating in cross country during the fall.

Freshmen Ke'adre Thompson and Felicia Hope were dual-event entries – Thompson in the 100m and 200m; Hope in the high jump and 200m.

Thompson was the Eagles' lone participant in the men's 100m and finished in 11.77, good for 11th. He posted a time of 23.59 in the 200m and placed 13th while Donovan Dwight tied for 14th in 23.86.

Justin Harper's time of 59.64 in the 400m was good for a 17th-place finish.

Adonis delivered the men's top finish of the day, placing fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:05.22.

Amir Warren, a transfer from Charleston Southern University, where he ran cross country as a freshman, led a trio of Tallahassee runners in the 1500m. His time of 4:37.77 was good for 10th. Erbaio finished 12th in 4:43.73 and Nasir Washington, 13th, in 4:48.33.

Randolph was the program's first entry in the 5000m, establishing the school record of 16:54.16, which earned him a seventh-place finish.

Likewise, Hope set the program benchmark in the women's high jump at 1.40m for a third-place finish. She placed 14th in the 200m with a time of 33.95.

Wiederkehr placed second in the 800m, the best event finish for any team member, with a time of 2:31.26 in what turned out to be her final race in a Tallahassee uniform. After running cross country during the inaugural 2016 season, she took a year off then ran her second season in 2018 before launching her track career in 2019.
