Lynette Scutari finishes season with two new school and personal records

HOBBS, NM (May 19, 2023) – Lynette Scutari (Fresh.) capped of her record-breaking season with new personal and school records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon. She finished the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.74, which tops her previous best of 11.88. In the 200-meter, she finished with a time of 24.57, shaving nearly two seconds off her previous record of 26.42. 

Scutari made history earlier this season by being the first female TCC track and field athlete to run the 100-meter dash in under 12 seconds, and has continued to improve on her personal best throughout the season. She finished with the 17th fastest time in the preliminaries, missing out on qualification for the finals by 0.15 seconds, but finishes the season as the fastest female sprinter in school history. Her time was 23rd best in the preliminary round for the 200-meter dash, missing qualification for the finals by 1.19 seconds.

Yet to compete in Hobbs is Raeven Byrd (Soph.) in the triple jump, Troy Williams in the 400-meter hurdles, and Justin Moore in the 400-meter dash. Williams and Moore were originally scheduled to run in their respective events on Friday evening, but the events were postponed to Saturday. The preliminary round will serve as the final round due to the postponement.
