#TCCWXC: Reilly, Wiederkehr lead Eagles to third at FCSAA State XC meet

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 4, 2016) – Tallahassee Community College's inaugural season of women's cross country hit another milestone on Friday when the Eagles ran in the first-ever NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Cross Country Championship. 

Tallahassee brought home a third-place finish while, on the individual side, Samantha Reilly and Mia Wiederkehr finished sixth and seventh, respectively, out of 31 total runners to earn a spot on the NJCAA All-Region/FCSAA All-State team. 

Apalachee Regional Park (ARP) hosted the event, which kicks off a major weekend of competition at the facility. On Saturday, the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) will run its state championship meet at the ARP. Sunday, the course will welcome the USA Track & Field Masters 5K Championships. 

Reilly, as she has in each race this season, was the Eagles' top finisher, crossing the stripe in 21:26.22, six seconds ahead of Wiederkehr, who ran a personal-best 21:32.28.

The top seven runners in the event medaled and also comprised the first-ever FCSAA all-state cross country team. 

Monet Madeux was the next Tallahassee finisher, running a personal-best 22:20.41, good for 12th place. Ashley Jones also PRd with a 23:00.34, good for 14th

Ellie Stubblefield, who finished 23rd with a time of 24:52.59, was the final scorer for Tallahassee, who compiled 60 points, good for third place in the event. 

Pasco-Hernando State College (33 points) and South Florida State College (37) were the top two team finishers. Tallahassee placed ahead of rival Chipola College, who came in fourth (95). 

Also finishing for Tallahassee on Friday were Regan Ward, who ran a personal-best 25:36.53 (27th place), Jeanna Prisco (27:10.96, 29th) and Jasmine Green (27:16.33, 30th). 

Tallahassee's top seven runners – Reilly, Wiederkehr, Madeux, Jones, Stubblefield, Ward and Prisco – will travel to El Dorado, Kan., for the NJCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 12.
