TCC Athletics to celebrate 2019-20 season on Zoom

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 27, 2020) – Tallahassee Community College will celebrate the 2019-20 athletics season with a virtual end-of-year ceremony on Zoom at 4 p.m., Thursday, April 30. 

All student-athletes and coaches from the Eagles' eight NJCAA teams, as well as athletic department staff members, are scheduled to attend. Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Sheri Rowland will also join the virtual event. 

"The last six weeks have been a most unusual time for our student-athletes, coaches and staff," said director of athletics Rob Chaney. "This will provide an opportunity to bring some closure to the athletics season and end things on a positive note by carrying out some recognitions we would have otherwise done under normal circumstances." 

Thursday's Zoom ceremony will feature sophomore recognitions for the Eagles' spring sports teams – baseball, softball and track – who lost the opportunity when the NJCAA cancelled the remainder of the 2019-20 athletics season on March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year will also be announced and the department will recognize its graduating sophomores. 

"Our department has accomplished a lot of great things this season," added Chaney. "Even with the absence of athletic competition for the last six weeks, our student-athletes still deserve to be recognized and this is our way to say 'thank you' for a job well done."
