Tinsley Floyd Athletics Book Scholarship

Tallahassee State College's athletics book scholarship is an endowment that was established by the TSC Athletic Department to promote academic success among student athletes. The end goal of the scholarship is to offset the cost of books for the Eagles' scholarship student-athletes. 

The scholarship honors one of the Eagles' most loyal supporters - the late Tinsley Floyd. 

Mr. Floyd, who enjoyed a distinguished career as an economics instructor in the College's Division of History and Social Sciences, was one of the most highly respected faculty members at TSC. During his tenure, he taught numerous student-athletes and instantly became one of their biggest fans.

When intercollegiate athletics was reintroduced at TSC in 1990, Mr. Floyd, both a strong advocate for academics and an avid sports fan, quickly became one of the Eagles' most dedicated supporters. In 2007, he was part of the sixth class enshrined into the Eagle Athletics Hall of Fame. 

He later served on the TSC Eagle Boosters Board of Directors. 

Mr. Floyd passed away in 2012, at which time TSC Athletics and the TSC Foundation formally renamed the award the Tinsley Floyd Athletics Book Scholarship. 

Two annual events provide opportunities to contribute to the Tinsley Floyd Athletics Book Scholarship - the athletic department's annual golf tournament and the College's annual fund for faculty and staff. The TSC Foundation will also accept contributions to the scholarship year round.
