
Eagles drop first road game at Santa Fe
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (February 5, 2020) – After a four-game homestand to open the season, Tallahassee Community College's baseball team hit the road Wednesday but fell to Santa Fe College, 9-5.
The Eagles are now 2-3 on the season.
Santa Fe hit three home runs, including back-to-back shots off Jude Ard to open the game, part of a four-run first that put the Saints in control early.
Tallahassee cut the lead in half in the second on Bryson Kirksey's RBI-single and an RBI-ground out from Spencer Hanson.
After Santa Fe got the runs back in the third, the Eagles responded again when Hanson doubled home Kirksey to make it a 6-3 game.
Santa Fe extended its lead to 9-3 through six then Tallahassee scored twice in the seventh on Dilan Lawson's triple.
Lawson went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Kirksey was 2-for-4.
Ard (1-2) took the loss for the Eagles, allowing four runs and five hits in 1.2 innings.
The Eagles will host the TCC Diamond Classic on Friday and Saturday, with Pasco-Hernando State College and Shelton (Ala.) State Community College also participating.
Tallahassee will play Pasco-Hernando State at 2 p.m. Friday – one hour later than the originally published start time.
