Eagles’ bats stymied by South Georgia

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 16, 2021) – Tallahassee Community College's baseball team dropped its third straight game on Tuesday, falling to South Georgia State College, 4-2, at Eagle Field.

The Eagles (6-7) have lost three in a row since taking the opening game of last week's three-game series against Shelton (Ala.) State Community College.

Despite having just three hits on Tuesday, the Eagles were not without their opportunities. They stranded 13 runners and left the bases loaded in the first and eighth innings. The timely hit escaped Tallahassee all game long, however, as the Eagles finished 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Trailing 3-0, Tallahassee got on the board in the second when Julian Barcelo's ground out scored Orlando Adams.

The teams traded runs in the eighth, with the Eagles' run coming on a bases-loaded walk to Trent Jeffcoat that scored Brendan Power.

Power, Adams and Jeissy De La Cruz had the Eagles' three hits.

Stan King (0-1) started and was tagged with the loss for Tallahassee.

Up next for the Eagles is a 4 p.m. first pitch on Wednesday against Florida State College at Jacksonville.
