Central Florida surges past TCC
OCALA, Fla. (February 26, 2021) – The College of Central Florida broke a 5-all tie with five runs in the sixth inning en route to a 14-7 win over Tallahassee Community College in Friday afternoon baseball.
Tallahassee is now 8-10 on the season.
Trailing 5-1, Central Florida scored nine unanswered runs between the second and sixth innings. The Patriots scored in seven of their eight at-bats overall.
After spotting Central Florida a first-inning run, Tallahassee enjoyed a big inning of its own in the second.
The Eagles scored five runs, all with two outs, beginning with a bases-loaded walk to Brendan Power. A defensive error plated Andrew Fernandez and kept the inning alive for Bryson Kirksey, who doubled home Orlando Adams and Power.
Following a pitching change, a passed ball allowed Trent Jeffcoat to score from third and suddenly the Eagles had a 5-1 lead.
After Central Florida grabbed a 10-5 lead, Tallahassee got two of the runs back to stay within striking distance.
Jeissy De La Cruz singled home Jeffcoat and Dilan Lawson's RBI-single plated Spencer Hanson to pull the Eagles within three at 10-7.
De La Cruz, Lawson and Fernandez had two hits apiece for Tallahassee.
Tallahassee will return to action on Sunday when it travels to South Georgia State College for a 2 p.m. game.
