TCC men fall in final seconds at Santa Fe

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (November 9, 2012) - Santa Fe College's Bobby Hunter hit a three-pointer with 9.8 seconds remaining in the game and it proved to be the game-winner for the FCSAA No. 10 Saints, who defeated No. 5 Tallahassee Community College, 86-85, on Friday evening.

For a brief moment, it appeared Tallahassee had stolen the victory at the buzzer when Jonathan Hood took an inbounds pass from Trevor McDade and knocked down a desperation three-pointer from the corner. The shot, however, was waived off when the officials ruled it had come after the horn.

Tallahassee is now 1-2, with the two losses coming by a total of three points. Santa Fe improved to 3-0 on the season.

Tallahassee trailed 49-40 at the half and eventually faced a 19-point deficit before storming back to take an 85-83 lead into the closing seconds.

Santa Fe enjoyed a 19-point advantage from the charity stripe, hitting 30-of-48, compared to just 11-of-18 for the Eagles.

C.J. Washington led Tallahassee with 22 points. Marlon Johnson added 15 and McDade scored 14.

Hunter finished with 31 points to lead all scorers.

Tallahassee will hit the road again on Monday when it travels to Florida State College at Jacksonville for a 4 p.m. game.
