#TCCBasketball: Eagle men win tenth straight

MELBOURNE, Fla. (December 2, 2017) – NJCAA No. 13/Region 8 No. 2 Tallahassee Community College defeated Polk State College, 67-61, on Saturday in day two action at the Jim Grimes Memorial Classic hosted by Eastern Florida State College.

Tallahassee is now 10-0 for the second straight season under head coach Mark White and the seventh time in school history.

Similar to Friday's win over Snow (Utah) College, Tallahassee had to overcome a first-half deficit. Unlike that 72-59 triumph, Saturday's game went down to final minute.

Leading 63-61 entering the final half minute, Tallahassee picked up a couple of defensive stops and tacked on four points for the final margin of victory.

Corey Douglas (25 points) and Javien Williams (17) combined to score 42 of the Eagles' 67 points and were the only players in double-figures. Douglas added 12 rebounds for the double-double.

Polk State led 21-16 with seven minutes left in the first half, but Tallahassee rattled off 12 unanswered points and led 32-26 at the break.

Tallahassee will return to play on Wednesday evening at South Georgia Technical College. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
