#TCCBasketball: Eagle men drop third straight

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 20, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team dropped its third straight game on Saturday, falling 71-64 to visiting Pensacola State College.

Since opening the season 10-0, Tallahassee has dropped six of its last ten games to fall to 14-6. The Eagles are 1-3 in Panhandle Conference play. Pensacola State (12-9, 1-3) picked up its first PC victory.

Early on, Pensacola State looked destined to remain winless in league play. Tallahassee scored the first ten points and eventually led 15-1 a little more than six minutes into the game.

The Eagles' lead was still 13 (31-18) after a basket by Javien Williams with 3:36 left in the half, but Pensacola State scored the next seven points and trailed 31-25 at the intermission.

The Pirates carried the momentum into the second half. Nine unanswered points to start the half completed a 16-0 surge, resulting in a 34-31 lead.

Pensacola State shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field in the second half, outscoring Tallahassee, 46-33.

Tallahassee erased deficits of five and six points and C.J. Fisher's free throw broke a 63-all tie with 1:16 remaining, but Pensacola State closed on an 8-0 run to steal the victory.

Carlos Rosario came off the bench to score 18 points for Pensacola State. Daryl Lewis had 14 and Yeikson Montero, 11.

Williams finished with 24 to lead three Tallahassee players in double-figures. Leon Freeman-Daniels added 14 while Corey Douglas posted a double-double, 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Tallahassee will travel to Chipola College on Tuesday for an 8:30 p.m. eastern game with the Indians.
