Eagles earn at-large bid to state tournament

The Eagles will take on the number one-seeded Indian River State Pioneers in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region VIII Tournament in Niceville, FL. After winning four consecutive conference games to end the regular season, the Eagles earned one of the two at-large bids to the tournament as the number eight seed.

Tallahassee is ranked seventh in the Region VIII coaches' poll. They finished the season 21-9 in their first year under head coach Rick Cabrera.

"First and foremost, we are excited to have this opportunity to compete in the state tournament," says Cabrera. "We are looking forward to playing against one of the best teams in the country. They have consistently displayed a high-power offense on top of great coaching by Charlie Wilson and his staff."

The game will take place on Wednesday, March 2nd at Raider Arena in Niceville, FL. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM central time. The winner will advance to face either Florida Southwestern or Santa Fe in the semifinal on Friday. This will be the second matchup between the two teams this season, with the Eagles beating the Pioneers 89-82 in the season opener.
