Men's Basketball opens season with big win in Bradenton

BRADENTON, FL (November 4, 2022) - The Tallahassee Community College Men's Basketball team got their season started with a bang on Friday evening with a 81-52 victory over the State College of Florida Manatees. 

Malachi Davis (G, Soph.) exploded in the second half and finished with 24 points, shooting five of seven from beyond the arc. He also added six rebounds and five assists. Okechukwu Okeke (F, Soph.), Tom Mark (F, Soph.), and Ja'Quavian Florence (G, Soph.) each added 13 points. Okeke was a force on both ends of the court, adding eight rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.

The Eagles travel to Niceville, FL this weekend for two games as part of the Northwest Florida State Classic. On Friday they'll take on Southern Union Community College with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 PM ET. On Saturday, they'll play Coastal Alabama - South at 3:00 PM ET. They will return home for Monday's (11/14) home opener against Marion Military Institute at 6:00 PM.

  • The Eagles totaled 52 points in the second half, their most in a half since December 4, 2021 when they scored 53 in the second half against DME Prep. 
  • Head Coach Rick Cabrera is now 2-0 in season openers during his time at TCC. The Eagles defeated Indian River State 89-82 to open the 2021-22 campaign. The win marks the program's tenth straight opening opening game victory. 
  • Malachi Davis had a career high in three pointers made (5), topping his previous high of 4 for Lake Land College (1/22/2022 vs. Shawnee CC).
