Leo Rutledge shines at Auburn Tiger Track Classic

Men's Track and Field standout Leo Rutledge (Fr.) added two more school records to his resume at the Auburn University Tiger Track Classic last weekend.  As the only junior college athlete in this NCAA meet, Rutledge opened with a huge personal best in the 5000 meters, finishing eighth overall out of 22 entrants in 15:15.12, a time that qualified him for the 2022 NJCAA Track & Field National Championships.  This time bested the former TCC school record by over 30 seconds.  The next day, Rutledge smashed the TCC 800 meters record with a 1:57.81 clocking.  Leo Rutledge now owns every TCC Track & Field school record in all events from 800 meters to 8K (cross-country).  He continues to maintain a 4.0 GPA at Tallahassee Community College.

Rutledge will represent TCC at the 2022 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Nationals in at least two events: 5000 meters and 1500 meters.  He will also be a candidate if the TCC 4 x 800 meters relay team advances to Nationals.

Rutledge graduated from the Maclay School, in Tallahassee, FL, in 2021.

Tallahassee Community College next competes at the Golden Isle Relays in Brunswick, GA on March 26.  The Eagles are aiming to claim victories in both individual and relay events at this meet.
