Eagle men climb two spots in the national rankings

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 22, 2020) – Tallahassee Community College's men's cross country team climbed two spots to No. 16 the latest NJCAA Division II poll, released Wednesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The men hosted the TCC Eagle Invite on October 17 and showed improvement from the October 2 FSU Invitational, both of which took place at Apalachee Regional Park.

Five of the seven runners posted season PRs, which yielded a season-best 29:19 team scoring average on the 8K course.

Although Mat Maier (28:41) was a bit off his October 2 time, he still crossed the finish line first, which earned him Region 8 Runner of the Week honors. More importantly, he provided a great chase target for Bryce Bass and Will Stratton, who ran a 28:51 and 28:55, respectively, both lowering their FSU Invite marks.

The team's No. 4 and 5 runners, Shawn Marcum and Rodolph Adonis, respectively, also lowered their times.

The team will now prepare for the FCSAA State/NJCAA Region Championships, slated for October 30 at the ARP. Tallahassee is one of four Region 8 teams in the men's poll, joining No. 6 Daytona State College, No. 11 Lake-Sumter State College and No. 23 Florida State College-Jacksonville.
