Adonis earns CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors
AUSTIN, Texas (August 6, 2021) – Tallahassee Community College two-sport standout Rodolph Adonis landed another academic honor earlier this week when he was named to the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Men's College Division Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
CoSIDA's college division includes all two-year institutions (NJCAA, CCCAA, NWAC), Canadian institutions and any United States four-year institutions that are not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Team, student-athletes must have been at their current institution for a minimum of one year (two semesters) and carry a minimum 3.3 GPA while being a key starter or reserve on their athletic team.
Adonis was one of five male scholar-athletes recognized and his 3.94 cumulative GPA was the highest among the quintet, whose average GPA was 3.78.
"First and foremost, it is my greatest honor to be have been part of the NJCAA for the two years that I was a student-athlete at Tallahassee Community College. The privilege I had being a student-athlete (at Tallahassee Community College) is that I've learned the importance of prioritizing my time wisely," said Adonis. "Learning how to manage my time as a student and athlete wisely translates to success, such as Dean's List as a freshman, President's List as a sophomore, and, most importantly, the title of All-American throughout the two years of being a student-athlete. I am very honored to be a part of the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Men's College Division Team."
A native of Wellington, Fla., Adonis graduated from Tallahassee Community College last month, capping a two-year career as a member of the Eagles' cross country and track teams.
On the trail, Adonis helped the Eagles to their first-ever national ranking in 2020, and he and his teammates participated in the NJCAA Championships in both 2019 and 2020. In his final cross country race, he ran a career-best 30:01.55 in the 8K at last season's NJCAA Championships in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Adonis developed his middle-distance skills on the track and ran a school-record 2:00.19 in the 800m at the 2021 UNF Invitational.
After being named NJCAA All-Academic Second-team as a freshman, Adonis earned first-team honors in 2020-21, symbolic of a perfect 4.0 GPA for the academic year, and the Eagles' men's outdoor track & field team was named NJCAA Academic Team of the Year for the sport and FCSAA Men's Academic Team of the Year for teams with 10 or fewer participants.
He was also twice named a NJCAA Scholar All-American by the NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association and earned All-Academic honors from the FCSAA and Panhandle Conference in both 2020 and 2021.
Adonis will enroll at Florida State University later this month to pursue a degree in criminology with a minor in political science.
He is Tallahassee's second CoSIDA Academic All-American, joining fellow cross country and track & field standout Genevieve Printiss, who received the honor in 2020.
