TCC’s Rutledge captures second ROTW award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 21, 2021) – A first-place finish at Friday's Alligator Lake Invitational propelled Tallahassee Community College' Leo Rutledge to his second NJCAA Region 8 Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week award on Tuesday.

Rutledge, a freshman from Tallahassee, Fla., won the 5K race in Lake City with a school-record time of 16:43.9. The previous mark of 17:21.48 was held by Brandon Flagler, who set the mark in 2018 at the UNF XC Invite.

Rutledge finished 32 seconds ahead of the field, which included four runners from NJCAA No. 2 Daytona State College. His efforts also led the Eagle men to a team win.

Rutledge was named Region 8 Runner of the Week on August 31 following his season-opening race at the TCC XC Open.
