TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 19, 2014) - The Tallahassee Community College Eagles swept Andrew (Ga.) College in convincing fashion 16-0 and 12-0 with a no-hitter in game one coming from Mariah Rivera

Tallahassee (9-4) came into the front-end of a home-and-home doubleheader against Andrew (Ga.) College on Wednesday, fresh off of a two-game sweep against Santa Fe College on Tuesday.

In the opener, the Eagles opened up the floodgates early, putting up nine runs in the bottom of the first inning. The additional run support was appreciated but not really necessary as starting pitcher Mariah Rivera was lights out on the mound.

Three players were catalysts for the Eagles explosive offense in the first. Alexis Huss and Taesha DuBoise each had a two-RBI double and scored a run. Marina Cobbs bolted around the base paths and slid into third, knocking across two runs.

Brenda Santana and Ashley Heath-Smith each knocked in an RBI to add to the already huge lead. Tallahassee opened up a 9-0 lead heading into the top of the second.

The Eagles were held scoreless in the second, but were able to tack on seven more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Tallahassee was able to take advantage of the holes in the Tiger defense and hit line drives in the gaps, driving home runs and racking up the RBIs.

Besides the explosive bats there was another bright spot for the Eagles on Wednesday. Rivera dominated the Tigers' lineup and pitched a no-hitter, with only three walks. She also had five strike outs in five innings of work. The Eagles took game one 16-0.

The second game seemed like a continuation of the first. The Eagle bats never cooled off as Tallahassee jumped out to an early lead once again. Tallahassee scored in the home half of every inning with the greatest run total coming in the first. Alexis Huss had two RBIs in her first at-bat of game two. Te Reo Powhiri Matautia and Karley Yeager each drove in a run as well.

Starting pitcher Krysta Hoani did not get off to an ideal start, but the solid defense behind her paired with the offensive onslaught by the Eagles allowed her to settle in as the game progressed. The Eagles tacked on three runs in both the third and fourth innings to extend the lead to twelve.

Hoani continued to pitch shutout innings for Tallahassee and did not allow one run to cross home plate. She only allowed two hits and three walks in five innings, and also had two K's.

DuBoise shined for the Eagles in game two. She went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Huss and Karley Yeager also had two RBIs.

Tallahassee's next game will be against this same Andrew College team on Saturday, February 22. Game one of the doubleheader will begin at 1:30 p.m. eastern.
