#TCCSoftball drops pair at NWF State

NICEVILLE, Fla. (April 2, 2016) – Northwest Florida State rallied for a 6-5 win in game one over Tallahassee Community College then beat the Eagles 8-0 in game two to complete the doubleheader sweep on Saturday afternoon.

Tallahassee (20-16) dropped to 4-6 in Panhandle Conference play, two games back of second-place Chipola College (6-4), who split Saturday's doubleheader with Gulf Coast State College (3-7).

The Eagles were in position to steal game one against the nationally-ranked Raiders, taking a 5-3 lead to the bottom of the sixth, but a two-run homer tied things up at 5-all.

After Tallahassee went scoreless in the top of the seventh, Northwest Florida State took advantage of two defensive miscues by the Eagles to plate the winning run.

Offensively for Tallahassee, Kristin Gunter was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Casey Durham was 1-for-2.

Northwest Florida State rode the momentum from the game one victory into the nightcap and defeated the Eagles 8-0 in five innings.

Tallahassee will host Chipola at 4 p.m. in its final home date of the season.
