Road-Tripped: Eagle women lose by 21 on the road despite double-double from Allen, three in double figures

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (January 11, 2014 )- The Tallahassee Community College women were defeated by Gulf Coast State 81-60 in a tough test on the road on Saturday evening.

Tallahassee (10-10, 1-2 Panhandle Conference) came into Saturday night's game looking for its second consecutive win against a dominant Gulf Coast State (17-1, 1-1) team that was coming off of its only loss of the season thus far.

Early on both teams were running up-tempo offenses and trying to get out in transition. Both teams tried their luck often from behind the three-point line. Although some shots dropped, living and dying by the three is often not an effective strategy to win. This proved to be a big difference in the game.

Tallahassee shot 25 percent from downtown in the first half, converting on just four of 16 attempts. Despite the missed shots, the game was close at halftime. Nearing the half the Eagles went on a 12-7 run with just over three minutes to go, cutting the deficit to just four at the time.

The Eagles trailed the Commodores by a score of 37-30 at the break. Both Marija Pacar and Addesha Collins led the Eagles with eight points at halftime.

Eventually, Gulf Coast State would pull away and never looked back. They found success in the paint and continuously converted down low, outscoring Tallahassee 40-10 in the paint.

The Commodores' largest lead was 22 points. Tallahassee never had the lead in the game and was able to tie only once. Gulf Coast State put up 44 point in the second half and cruised to victory, 81-60.

Pacar was able to match her point total from the first half, finishing with 16. Collins finished in double figures with ten. Aariel Allen came away with a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 boards.

The next game does not get any easier for the Eagle women as they will face a very tough Chipola College team at home on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Chipola is 2-0 in the PC, and has just one loss overall.
