Eagle women drop third straight

NICEVILLE, Fla. (January 11, 2020) – Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team dropped its third straight game on Saturday, falling to Northwest Florida State College, 73-56, in Panhandle Conference action.

Tallahassee is now 9-7 on the season, 0-2 in PC play. Northwest Florida State (16-3) picked up its first conference victory and is now 1-2 in league action.

Much like its conference-opening loss to Chipola College, Tallahassee got off to a slow start on Saturday. The Eagles shot just 2-for-14 in the first quarter and faced an early 14-4 deficit after the first ten minutes.

The second quarter looked like a totally different ballgame. The Eagles hit 8-of-14 shots (57.1 percent) from the floor, trimmed the Raiders' lead to as little as two then eventually went to the locker room trailing 29-23.

Unfortunately, for Tallahassee, the third quarter looked more like the first than the second. Northwest Florida State outscored the Eagles, 25-12, to seize control of the game and take a 54-35 lead to the fourth.

The Raiders outrebound Tallahassee, 43-26, including 15-9 on the offensive glass, which translated to a 13-0 advantage in second chance points.

Sedayjah Payne scored 18 points to lead the Eagles. Polina Nikulochkina had 16.

Tallahassee will host Pensacola State College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
