Eagles lose hard-fought contest against #16 Pensacola State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 14, 2023) — After a hard-fought contest against the #16 Pensacola State Pirates, TCC dropped their second consecutive conference game 73-58. The Eagles led 19-15 at the end of the first quarter. Jaidyn Trevino (G, Soph.) knocked down a pair of deep three-pointers to help the Eagles jump out in front. Pensacola State responded by scoring 26 points in the second quarter, taking a 41-33 lead into the break.

It was a lead they would never get back. TCC kept the game competitive, with Keiana Delaney (G, Soph.) scoring eight second-half points, she finished with 13. Rebounding was the difference in the contest, with Pensacola State bringing in 48 to TCC's 29. 26 of the Pirates' rebounds were offensive, allowing them to accumulate 76 field goal attempts. 

Sarai Estupinan (G, Soph.) led the team with 14 points, shooting 5-13 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line. She added three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.  

The Eagles head on the road to take on #1 Gulf Coast State (16-1, 1-1) on Wednesday, January 18. Gulf Coast State is coming off its first loss of the season on the road against Chipola, which puts the Commodores in third place in the Panhandle Conference. Wednesday's game is scheduled to tip-off at 6:30 PM ET, and will be broadcast on ESPN+ as the NJCAA Game of the Week.
