Eagles stumbles against Pensacola State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 18, 2023) — TCC Women's Basketball lost another tough matchup inside the Bill Hebrock Eagledome, falling to Pensacola State (17-11, 4-7) 76-45.  TCC was without starting point guard and leading scorer Sarai Estupinan (G, Soph.), who missed out on Saturday due to injury.

The Eagles battled, at one point making it a two-score game in the third quarter. Ultimately, Pensacola State's depth made it too tough for TCC, and the Pirates pulled ahead in the fourth quarter.

TCC thrived at the free throw line, as they have all season, shooting 22-28 from the charity stripe. Za'Naria Robinson (F, Fresh.) led the team in scoring with 16 points. She added 17 rebounds, marking her third double-double of the year. Robinson also tallied three steals and three blocks. Skylar Bailey (G, Fresh.) added 12 points to the Eagles' total.

"She has improved so much this season," said head coach Mercedes Corona about Robinson's performance. "I'm proud of the strides she has taken, but I know she can continue to work on things like her finishing. When she plays as hard as she did today, she's going to grab tons of rebounds, it doesn't matter who we are playing."

The Eagles head to Panama City on Wednesday to take on Gulf Coast State before returning home on Saturday to take on Chipola in the season finale.
