Eagles host first “indoor” track meet

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 27, 2021) – A picture-perfect afternoon greeted participants on Saturday for Tallahassee Community College's first-ever indoor track meet – held outside at Maclay School.

Due to a one-time provision from the NJCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were allowed to hold indoor meets outdoors during the 2020-21 season.

Three Tallahassee women officially competed in Saturday's event while seven males ran "unattached" in the Eagles' lone tune-up for the outdoor season, which begins March 27 at the FAMU Relays.

The featured event on Saturday was the women's 800m, in which sophomore Mia Wiederkehr was gunning for a qualifying time to next weekend's NJCAA Indoor Championships.

Needing to post a time of 2:24.33 or better, Wiederkehr just missed, finishing in 2:26.38. She will now set her sights on qualifying in the event at May's outdoor championships for a second time.

Olivia Vigille and Denise Thomas ran the 200m and posted times of 30.66 and 32.28, respectively.

In the men's 800m, Mat Maier, Rodolph Adonis, Shawn Marcum, Bryce Bass and Nasir Washington all competed unattached.

Maier took second overall out of 15 runners, finishing with a time of 2:03.81. Adonis was third in 2:04.34.

Marcum (2:09.34), Bass (2:13.88) and Washington (2:14.63) finished seventh through ninth, respectively.

Similarly, Tristen Owens and Justin Harper took the starting line in the men's 400m. Owens clocked a 55.26 while Harper finished in 1:00.43.
