Marcum’s 1500m debut spurs Eagles at PURE Spring Invite

CLERMONT, Fla. (April 7, 2021) – Tallahassee Community College's track team continued making strides at Sunday's PURE Athletics Spring Invitational. 

Freshman Shawn Marcum, making his debut in the 1500m, exceeded expectations with a time of 4:27.55, good for a fourth-place finish. He was third in a line of four Eagle runners who placed second through fifth. 

Mat Maier led the pack with a second-place finish in a time of 4:25.39. Rodolph Adonis was next with a time of 4:27.04. Bryce Bass finished behind Marcum with a time of 4:29.41. 

Although the meet was missing the women's 800m from its lineup, Mia Wiederkehr still delivered a first-place finish, winning the 1500m in 5:16.60. 

Jacquell Lewis posted a time of 13.01 in the 100m but didn't advance out of the prelims. 

In the men's 400m, Tristen Owens and Ke'adre Thompson finished 1-2 in an all-NJCAA heat. Owens posted a time of 51.82 while Thompson finished in 53.30. Their times were good for 13th and 14th overall, respectively. 

After three straight meet weekends, the Eagles will take a break until April 24 when it will host the TCC Eagle Spring Invite.
