Happy returns: Dicks, Pausche come up big in hometown as Eagles improve to 5-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (February 4, 2014) - Jacksonville, Fla., natives Christian Dicks and Kyle Pausche enjoyed a happy return to their hometown on Tuesday afternoon as FCSAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College defeated Florida State College at Jacksonville, 6-5, in NJCAA baseball action.

Dicks' two-run double in the top of the seventh broke a 3-3 tie and put Pausche into position to earn the win for the Eagles, who improved to 5-0 on the season.

Tallahassee heads home for Thursday's Eagle Field opener against Gordon (Ga.) State College at 4 p.m. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 3:30 p.m

Pausche (1-0) pitched 4.2 innings in relief of starter Micah Dunn to earn the victory for Tallahassee. He gave up three earned runs but struck out seven.

Logan Elliot recorded the final four outs to notch the save.

Tallahassee got off to a fast start, scoring in its first at-bat when Bobby Rice singled home Ryan Willard. Florida State College later tied the game at 2-all and 3-all before Dicks put the Eagles ahead for good in the seventh.

Dicks was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Willard was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a pair of stolen bases.

Earlier on Tuesday, TCC Athletics announced that Tallahassee native and Boston Red Sox catcher David Ross will be in attendance at Thursday's home opener to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
