TCC men seek to even the score against Santa Fe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 1, 2012) - After Tallahassee Community College dropped an 86-85 decision at Santa Fe College on November 9, the Eagles left Gainesville with a 1-2 record, although the two losses had been by a combined three points. Santa Fe, on the other hand, boasted a 3-0 mark.

Since that loss, FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee has turned things around, winning four consecutive road games and six straight overall, including Tuesday's 86-79 win at NJCAA No. 23 Gordon (Ga.) State College, to improve to 7-2. Meanwhile, the Saints have have dropped three of five and now sit at 5-3.

Tallahassee will have a chance to even the score with Santa Fe on Saturday afternoon when the teams meet at 5 p.m. eastern in Marianna, Fla., at the annual Milton H. Johnson Panhandle Classic. For the Eagles' sophomores, they are looking to put an end to a three-game losing streak to the Saints, dating back to last season. One of those losses came in the same event last December.

"I think our young men are looking forward to Saturday's game and have been a little anxious about it because we dropped that one (on November 9) at their place," said Tallahassee head coach Eddie Barnes. "I'd like to see how far we've come and what we can do with that energy."

The Eagles were originally scheduled to play on Friday but the game against Lawson State (Ala.) Community College was cancelled after the Cougars withdrew from the event.

Santa Fe was in action on Friday against host Chipola College and suffered a 96-50 defeat.
