Eagles Look To Extend Streak

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 5, 2014) – The Tallahassee Community College Eagles (2-0) will take on Gordon (Ga.) State College (1-1) Thursday night at 7:00 pm in Barnesville, Ga. 

TCC is looking to continue its winning streak before returning home for their home opener on Saturday.  The Eagles have set high expectations for themselves as they strive towards a conference championship, region title, and a bid to the NJCAA Tournament. 

The Eagles are coming off of two big victories in the Quality Inn Classic over the weekend.  TCC won both of their games in dominating fashion.  In both games the Eagles were led by the shooting of sophomore guard Dirk Williams.  Williams came of the bench to score 24 points in both games.  Both Cameron Smith and Stavian Allen contributed to the Eagles explosive offense.

In both games the Eagles dominated the boards with 53 rebounds against Volunteer State and 55 rebounds against Faith Baptist.  Against Volunteer State Cameron Smith lead the team with 10 rebounds while Norbertas Giga pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the team against Faith Baptist. 

Gordon State College will face the Eagles for the 12th time in series history on Thursday night. TCC has dominated this series and currently lead the series 9-2 with the Eagles winning the first seven meetings.  The last time these two teams met in 2012 (Dec 29) TCC pulled out an 83-71 victory.

The Highlanders enters this game looking to bounce back from after suffering a 71-68 loss to American Basketball Institute. The Highlanders are lead in scoring by freshman guard Michael Stephenson.  Stephenson averages 18 points per game while shooting 30 percent from the field.  Defensively they are led by Aquavious Young who averages six rebounds and two steals a game. 

This will be the Eagles final road game before heading home for their home opener at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome on Saturday night.
