#TCCSoftball takes two at Santa Fe Triangle

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 4, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College head softball coach Patti Townsend, on Saturday, continued her march towards career win No. 400 with two wins at the Santa Fe College Triangle.

Region 8 No. 7 Tallahassee picked up a 3-1 win over No. 8 Santa Fe to start the day's action then scored in its final at-bat to knock off Georgia Military College, 4-3.

In the first game of the day, the Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings and that was enough for starting pitcher Raya Moncus in the 3-1 win.

Moncus (7-2) allowed four hits and two walks over 6.2 innings to earn the win. Callie Paine came on to start the fifth but Moncus reentered after the Saints scored their only run and had the bases loaded with just one out.

Moncus induced Bailee Moll into a fielder's choice, forcing a runner out at home, and struck out Shailynn Morales to end the threat. She pitched out of trouble again in the sixth, leaving the tying runs on base.

Santa Fe stranded eight base runners for the game.

The Eagles got on the board in the first, courtesy of Elisa Cecchetti's two-run homer. Samantha Malik added a solo shot in the second.

Tallahassee jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second game against Georgia Military.

An RBI-groundout by Brandie Callaway, solo homer from Malik and run-scoring single by Kristin Gunter accounted for the Eagles' runs.

Georgia Military cut into the lead with a two-run homer in the sixth and tied the game in the top of the seventh.

In the bottom half, however, Malik delivered again, with a walk-off single to score Cecchetti.

Callie Paine returned to the circle in game two and picked up the win.
