Lady Eagles hit the road to close fall semester

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (December 6, 2012) – Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team will close the fall semester with another pair of road contests, beginning with a 7 p.m. tilt on Friday evening at St. Petersburg College.

Friday's game will feature two teams ranked in this week's FCSAA Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll. Tallahassee (8-2) brings a No. 5 ranking into the game while St. Petersburg (5-4) is ranked ninth.

Following the game, the Lady Eagles will stop over in Lake Wales, Fla., grab a quick shootaround on Saturday morning at Warner University then head to Ft. Pierce, Fla., for a 2 p.m. matinee against Indian River State College (3-4).

Tallahassee is riding its second four-game winning streak of the season, thanks to a pair of wins at last weekend's Florida College's Women's Basketball Shootout, including a 59-53 overtime win against Indian River State on December 2.

This weekend will be the Lady Eagles' sixth and seventh games against Southern Conference schools during the season's first two months. Tallahassee is 5-0 thus far in those games. The Lady Eagles defeated St. Petersburg during a season-opening four-game winning streak, 56-52 on November 10 in Marianna, Fla., and also has wins over Brevard Community College, Broward College and Miami Dade College.

A pair of victories this weekend could elevate Tallahassee back into the national rankings heading into the holiday break. FCSAA No. 4 Florida State College at Jacksonville, who is ranked No. 19 in this week's NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Poll, fell to Miami Dade on Wednesday and Region 8 has placed four teams in the national poll each week this season.

Following Saturday's game at Indian River State, Tallahassee will be off until hosting the Comfort Inn Holiday Classic on December 28-29.
