Eagle women drop third straight

GAINESVILLLE, Fla. (November 17, 2015) – Santa Fe College handed NJCAA Region 8 No. 6 Tallahassee Community College its third straight loss on Tuesday evening, defeating the Eagles 66-53 in NJCAA women's basketball action.

Tallahassee is now 3-3 on the season while Santa Fe improved to 4-2.

The teams played to a 15-all tie after one quarter but the Saints scored the first five points of the second quarter and never trailed again.

Down 27-20, Tallahassee scored six unanswered and after the teams traded baskets, the Eagles trailed 29-28, but that was as close as they got the rest of the game.

Santa Fe led 32-29 at the half and outscored Tallahassee 14-10 in the third and 20-14 in the fourth.

Points were hard to come by for both sides much of the night, but particularly for the Eagles who shot just 29.9 percent (20-of-67) from the floor and made only one of 20 three-point attempts before Monique Calliste beat the final buzzer with a 25-footer.

Sabrina Banks posted a double-double to lead Tallahassee. She had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Tallahassee hosts the Capital Courtyard Classic this Thursday through Saturday at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome. The Eagles open play against Hillsborough Community College at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
