Stepping Stones: Deyvid Silva, South Alabama

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 11, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College baseball standout Deyvid Silva has signed a national letter of intent with the University of South Alabama.

Silva, a native of Miami, Fla., appeared in 105 games at shortstop during the 2016 and 2017 seasons for head coach Mike McLeod. He posted a career batting average of .281 with eight home runs and 59 RBIs.

As a freshman, Silva batted .333 with seven homers and 35 RBIs while slugging at a .522 clip. He developed into a more disciplined hitter in 2017, doubling his walk total from 25 (in 2016) to 49 while keeping his on-base percentage virtually the same (.419 compared to .426 in 2016).

Following his freshman season in 2016, Silva was one of 26 NJCAA participants selected to play for Team USA in the National Baseball Congress World Series.

Located in Mobile, Ala., South Alabama won the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Tournament and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament before bowing out in the Hattiesburg Regional.
