Stepping Stones: Derick Garcia, Flagler

 

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 19, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College baseball standout Derick Garcia has signed a national letter of intent with Flagler College. 

Garcia, a native of Pembroke Pines, Fla., went 11-6 with three saves and a 3.54 ERA during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, pitching for head coach Mike McLeod's Eagles. 

Garcia, a 6-foot-2 right-hander, emerged as the Eagles' ace in 2017 despite making just three starts in his 19 appearances. He went 6-2 with three saves and a 2.81 ERA in just 51.1 total innings to earn first-team all-Panhandle Conference honors. 

In 2018, he appeared in 21 games and was 5-4 with a 4.15 ERA in 60.2 innings pitched. 

Located in St. Augustine, Fla., the NCAA Division II Saints compete in the Peach Belt Conference.
