Track and Field Athletes Compete at National Championships

For the first time in program history, three TCC track and field athletes qualified for the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. Leo Rutledge, Troy Williams, and Fatima Morris all qualified while setting school records during the regular season in the 1,500 meters, 400 meter hurdles, and high jump, respectively.

At this weekend's Albany State University Alice Coachman Invitational, two TCC athletes punched their tickets to NJCAA Nationals. The Eagles were the only community college program at the meet, which featured NCAA Division I and II schools such as FAMU, Morehouse, and Columbus State.

Men’s Track and Field standout Leo Rutledge (Fr.) added two more school records to his resume at the Auburn University Tiger Track Classic last weekend.  As the only junior college athlete in this NCAA meet, Rutledge opened with a huge personal best in the 5000 meters, finishing eighth overall out of 22 entrants in 15:15.12, a time that qualified him for the 2022 NJCAA Track & Field National Championships.
